LAURENS, S.C. — Greenwood wraps up region play on the road Friday night at Laurens, a 7:30 p.m. kickoff between two teams trying to finish the regular season on a better note.
The Eagles bring a 3-6 record and a three-game losing streak into the game. Westside handled them 41-8 last week, after T.L. Hanna shut them out 38-0 and Fountain Inn won a 21-14 game. Greenwood has scored 174 points this season and allowed 250, and it has yet to win away from home.
Its best region showing came on Oct. 2, a 42-14 home win over Easley.
Laurens sits at 4-5 after a 28-14 loss at Fountain Inn last Friday. The Raiders have shown they can score in bunches, putting up 64 points in a win over Easley, and they beat Greer 34-6.
History favors Greenwood. The Eagles lead the all-time series 18-3 over 21 meetings dating to 2004 and won the most recent game, 35-7, in 2020. Laurens last beat Greenwood in 2019, a 21-7 decision.
