GREENWOOD, S.C. — Greenwood High School wants help picking the next group of honorees for its athletics hall of fame. The school is now collecting nominations for the 2027 class, and anyone who wants to suggest a former Eagle has until Dec. 31 to turn in an application.
The nomination form is linked from the school’s athletics website, gogreenwoodathletics.com. The school lists Coach Hudson and Crystal Huntsberger as the people to contact with questions about the process.
The most recent class, which went in this year, had four members. Thomas Conner, a 2001 graduate, was part of the Eagles’ back-to-back football state championships in 1999 and 2000, earned a spot in the Shrine Bowl and later played at Elon and North Greenville. Alex Sellars, who finished at Greenwood in 2006, earned letters in football, soccer and track, then became a first-team All-Southern Conference tight end at The Citadel.
Evin Sims was the quarterback for the unbeaten 2012 Greenwood team that finished 15-0 with a state title, and he went on to play college football at Lenoir-Rhyne. Edward Snead spent six seasons on the varsity tennis team, helped the 2009 squad go 18-0 and win a state crown, and later started for four years at Presbyterian College.
The year before, the hall added five people: Cissily Hunter for basketball, Jarad Jeter for track and field, Markeyvious Adams for football and basketball, Spearman Robinson for football and Trey Wimmer for baseball.
