Born in Jackson, Michigan, Mary was the daughter of the late Frank Bober and Marie Bruynooghe Bober. She was a graduate of St. Johns High School, class of 1956. Following her education, Mary dedicated many years to her career at CTI Industries, a balloon manufacturer, where she served as an administrative assistant until her retirement.
Mary’s love for nature and gardening was evident through her achievement of a Master Gardener degree. Her enthusiasm led her to be an active member of the McCormick Garden Club, where she shared her passion with fellow gardening enthusiasts. In addition, Mary enjoyed camaraderie and fun as a member of the Savannah Lakes Red Hat Club.
Faith was an integral part of Mary’s life. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood, SC, and had previously attended the Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick, SC. She contributed significantly to her community by being involved in the Stephen Ministry, where she provided support and care for those in need.
Mary Leone Kenzie left behind a cherished family. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Kenzie, Jr. and John Kenzie, as well as a sister, Christine Dull. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David Kenzie; a son, Jason Kenzie of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and two daughters, Lisa Prekosovich (John) of Houston, TX, and Susan Kenzie (Peter Jarrell) of Wauconda, IL. Mary was also a beloved grandmother of four: Adrienne (Nick), Lindsay (Joe), Matthew, and Sara, and a great-grandmother to three: Rachel, Hannah, and Freddie.
A service to celebrate Mary Leone’s life is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 501 E. Creswell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. Rev. Chris Christopher and Rev. Jim Kinsler will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Dementia Society of America, or any charity of choice.
