GREENWOOD, S.C. — Three sitting Greenwood County Council members held their seats in Tuesday’s election, each finishing with more than 95% of the unofficial vote after facing no major-party opposition.
District 1 stayed with Democrat Teresa Griffin, who collected 1,911 votes (95.03%) while write-in names drew 100. District 2 stayed with Republican Mark Allison at 2,327 votes (97.53%) and 59 write-ins. District 3 stayed with Democrat Johanna Bishop at 2,384 votes (98.23%) and 43 write-ins. All precincts were in.
The 2026 Greenwood County candidate roster listed Griffin, Allison and Bishop as the party nominees for those three council seats. Unofficial tallies were reported through the South Carolina Election Commission.
County Council Chairman Theo Lane represents District 7 and was not on Tuesday’s ballot. Griffin already holds District 1, Allison holds District 2 and Bishop holds District 3 on the Greenwood County Council.
Voters in Greenwood School District 50 separately cleared a $175 million construction bond on the same ballot by roughly three to one. Separate coverage is following that school project; this report centers on the county council returns.
