INDIAN LAND, S.C. — Greenwood begins its postseason on the road Friday, Nov. 6, as the No. 12 seed in the 4A Upper State bracket of the state high school league, facing No. 5 Indian Land in the opening round.
The Eagles carry a 4-6 record into the game but arrive with some momentum after a 47-21 win at Laurens District 55 on Oct. 30. Indian Land is 7-2 and has won two straight, including a 49-0 shutout at Nation Ford the same night.
League rules give home field to the better seed in each round until the state finals, barring a neutral-site assignment, so the Eagles make the trip to the Warriors home field in Lancaster County.
The winner moves on to face No. 4 T.L. Hanna in Anderson on Nov. 13. Gaffney is the top seed in the Class 4A Upper State, and the Upper State title game falls on Nov. 27, one day after Thanksgiving.
