LOS ANGELES — Luka Doncic carried the Lakers past Toronto on Sunday, scoring 45 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in a 131-125 home win that got tighter than it needed to be.
Doncic was nearly automatic from deep, hitting 8 of his 12 attempts from beyond the arc to tie his season best for made threes. Austin Reaves chipped in 19 points, Walker Kessler posted 16 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks, and Collin Sexton scored 14.
Los Angeles built a lead of as many as 26 points before Toronto charged back late. The Lakers shot 53.8% overall and 48.6% from three, but 24 turnovers kept the Raptors within reach. It was a bounce-back night after Los Angeles let a 25-point cushion slip away Friday at Golden State.
Scottie Barnes led Toronto with 29 points, while RJ Barrett had 22 points to go with 10 boards. Jamison Battle scored 20 off the bench. The Raptors are 1-3 since Kawhi Leonard hurt his knee, and Sunday opened a four-game road trip.
Doncic came into the night averaging better than 36 points a game through his first five outings of the 2026-27 season. The Lakers stay home Monday night to face a Miami team opening a five-game western swing, with Bam Adebayo and the Heat defense tasked with slowing him down.
