Patti Howie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tom Howie, along with their two children: son Tige Howie and his wife Jackie from Columbia, SC, and daughter Sarah Lynne Howie and her husband Lamar Williams from Greenville, SC. Additionally, she leaves behind four grandchildren, Dry Howie, Chloe Howie, Harry Williams, and Lyda Williams. Patti is also survived by her two brothers Hal L. Prince, III and two sisters Kim Mundy and Milly (Paul) Stovall, all residents of Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her mother Marion Boyd Camak Prince, her sister Dana White, her brother-in-law Drew Mundy, and her aunt Glenda Chandler.
Born and raised in Abbeville, Patti graduated from Abbeville High School in 1970, where she was an active member and captained the cheerleading squad. After high school, she attended the University of South Carolina and later graduated from the South Carolina Bankers School. Her dedication to her high school led to her induction into the Class of 1970 Hall of Fame, and she served as treasurer of the Abbeville High School Booster Club.
With a remarkable 41-year career in the banking industry, Patti held significant roles throughout her life, including as a founding member and Vice-President at the Bank of Abbeville. She was an active member of the South Carolina Bankers Association and made an indelible mark on the banking institutions she served. Outside of banking, Patti worked as an Independent CAbi Stylist for 17 years, gaining recognition for her work in fashion.
Community involvement was a cornerstone of Patti’s life. She co-founded the Abbeville Women’s Club and contributed her financial expertise as treasurer for the Cotillion Club. As a former president of the Abbeville Optimist Club, she was widely known for her welcoming and warm nature that brought people together.
A devoted member of Main Street Methodist Church, Patti participated in various activities within the congregation. She was involved in the Agnes Rogers Circle and served on the Administrative Council for numerous years, showcasing her commitment to her faith. Additionally, she participated in the Pastor Parish Committee and was engaged with Nora’s Girls Bible Study Group. Her social life included joining groups such as the Lunch Bunch and the Fripp Group, where she enjoyed fellowship with friends.
The community is invited to pay their respects during a receiving friends event taking place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Main Street Methodist Church, followed by burial in Long Cane Cemetery. In honor of Patti’s memory, memorial contributions may be sent to Main Street Methodist Church in Abbeville.
