GREENWOOD, S.C. — Williamsburg Academy broke open a close game in the second half Friday night and beat Greenwood Christian 32-13 at Victory Field, a result that likely keeps the Hawks from playing a home postseason game for a third year in a row.

Eli Brown ran for three touchdowns for the Stallions, who made all four of their two-point tries and converted five of six chances on fourth down. Williamsburg went up 8-0 on a first possession that lasted almost six minutes, and sophomore quarterback Caden Morris later hit tight end Charlie Caulder for a 15-yard score with under 10 seconds left in the half to make it 16-6.

Greenwood Christian had answered the opening score with a 2-yard run by quarterback Leland Reed. Ryan McCalla brought the second-half kickoff back to the Williamsburg 40, and Isaiah Scott-Palacios punched in his 18th rushing touchdown of the year to pull the Hawks within three. The senior also went past 1,500 rushing yards for the season.

Williamsburg answered with a drive of nearly nine minutes, staying alive on fourth-and-short and third-and-11 before Brown scored again for a 24-13 lead. The Hawks later turned it over on downs at the 17 when a fourth-down pass fell incomplete, and Brown added his third score less than three minutes later.

The Stallions arrived in Greenwood off a string of lopsided results, including a 42-8 win at Orangeburg Prep, a 38-0 win at Lee Academy, a 37-6 home win over Spartanburg Day and a 32-14 win at Trinity-Byrnes. Their only loss in that run was a 26-22 game against Wilson Hall.

Greenwood Christian has now dropped two straight region games, following a 44-27 loss at Pee Dee Academy, and stands 1-2 in region play. Earlier in the fall the Hawks shut out McCormick 28-0 and Clarendon Hall 48-0 and slipped past Dixie 24-21.
