GREENWOOD, S.C. — Greenwood School District 50 in Greenwood, S.C., is warning families about a cybersecurity incident at Frontline Education, a software vendor used by school districts nationwide, after state education leaders circulated an alert.
Districts said Frontline notified them that a cybersecurity incident may have compromised student information. Greenwood School District 50 said on social media that information associated with about 16,678 current and former students may have been impacted.
The South Carolina Department of Education said technology leaders reported receiving Frontline notices on Oct. 2, 2026, and that the communication appears legitimate, though the department had not yet received an official customer impact statement or forensic assessment from the company.
Anderson School District Two also emailed parents and said its technology team reported the notice to SLED. Anderson School District Three said Applicant Tracking and School Health products from Frontline used by the district were compromised. Greenville County Schools said it had not received confirmation that its data was breached.
Frontline has said it is not aware of any misuse of information and that people affected will be notified and offered identity-protection services at no cost, according to district officials. The state education department advised districts to identify Frontline modules in use, preserve communications and monitor official updates from the company.
