Greenwood, South Carolina – Vanice Dale Evans, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare. She was 81 years old.

Born on October 17, 1943, Vanice was the daughter of the late Jack and Annie Ruth Harrison Evans. She was known for her quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to her family. Throughout her life, she was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Vanice is survived by her three children: David Wightman, Gina Anderson, and Norman Wightman. Additionally, she was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Christopher Anderson, Jason Wightman, and Kayla Roundtree. Her legacy will be fondly remembered by many extended family members and close friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Judy Whitt.

As a long-time member of Laurel Baptist Church, Vanice found both spiritual strength and community support. Her dedication to her family and her ability to nurture and inspire those around her left a lasting impression on the lives of everyone she touched.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held to commemorate her life. The family is currently gathering at the home of her grandson, Jason Wightman, located at 101 Tuscany Lane in Greenwood, SC 29649. Friends and members of the community are welcome to express their condolences, with flowers and cards being sent to the grandson’s residence.

Harley Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the Evans family with the arrangements during this difficult time.
