Florida – Neimann Lawrence, a promising quarterback from Miami Northwestern, has received a scholarship offer from the South Carolina Gamecocks. The offer was officially announced by Lawrence on his X account on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in his developing football career.
The Gamecocks are currently focusing on building their recruiting class for 2026 while scouting top high school talents like Lawrence, who just completed his freshman season in 2024. Lawrence is gaining considerable national attention, having been recognized in ESPN’s Underclassmen Report and included on On3’s list of the top 100 players to watch for the 2028 class.
Lawrence’s football journey has already been impressive. He received his first collegiate offer from the University of Miami at the young age of 12 and has since attracted interest from top-tier programs across the nation, including Georgia, Ohio State, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oregon, Penn State, and Florida.
During his freshman season, Lawrence showcased his skills, completing 160 of 249 passes for a total of 2,665 yards and 31 touchdowns. His performance contributed to Miami Northwestern’s record of 6-4, while the team recently celebrated its eighth state championship under the guidance of former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Lawrence served as the backup quarterback to Leon Strawder during the last season. Though he made a significant impact, he is expected to wait until 2026 to step into the starting quarterback role for the Bulls.
As Lawrence becomes a sought-after recruit, the Gamecocks will face tough competition for his commitment from several national powerhouses. A potential attraction for Lawrence to the South Carolina program could be the development and performance of their current star quarterback, LaNorris Sellers.
