A Force in Chemistry
Among the standouts from this year’s graduating class is William Jermon Franklin. Hailing from Lexington, Franklin is ready to take on the big world ahead, heading to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry. With a fierce dedication to his studies, he not only majored in chemistry but also added a minor in writing to his skill set!
Franklin’s impressive journey included conducting research at prestigious institutions like the University of Cincinnati and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His hard work paid off when he clinched second place at the South Carolina Academy of Science Conference! He even took his research to the nationwide level, presenting at the American Chemical Society conference in Denver. While engaging in academic pursuits, he found time to dive deep into campus life as both a Presidential Ambassador and a senator with the Student Government Association, sharing his vibrant spirit. Not to mention, he was crowned Homecoming King in 2024 and received the coveted Philosophy Discipline Award in 2023. What a journey!
Future Legal Eagles
Next up is the ambitious Saraiya Carr, an English (professional writing) and history double major from Greenville. Carr is gearing up for an adventure of her own, as she plans to volunteer abroad for a year before stepping into the legal arena for law school. Holding many leadership positions in Greek life, she has also completed internships at various esteemed locations such as the Benjamin E. Mays Historic Site and the Jane Merrill Law Firm. Talk about a bright future!
A History Teacher in the Making
Over in Greenwood, Andrew Goforth has big plans after graduation! As a double major in history and English, he’s set to inspire the next generation by teaching history and coaching football at Greenwood High School. Goforth’s journey has included enriching internships at the Benjamin E. Mays Historic Site and exciting study abroad opportunities in Scotland.
The Health Professional with a Musical Touch
Another exceptional graduate is Rebekah Long, who is truly a renaissance woman! Pursuing a double major in biology and music, Long has her sights firmly set on attending the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. Her hands-on experience as a surgery assistant, along with her roles as a peer tutor and LINK peer leader, showcases her dedication and passion for healthcare.
Financial Future Across the Pond
Last, but not least, let’s highlight Noah Durham, an ambitious financial services major from Abbeville. After gaining valuable experience through internships with Cox and Hazel and County Bank, Durham is set to expand his horizons by pursuing graduate studies in business analytics at the University of Southampton in England. A fantastic opportunity awaits!
A Night to Remember
During the ceremony, the remarkable achievements of many students were honored with Honors Medals and Pins. Notable recipients included Ann Ryan Alexander in nursing, Caitlin Anderson in CIS-software development, and Emma Grace Avant in graphic design. In addition, numerous receivers were awarded Honors Pins, like Sara Anglin in media and communication and Kelis Clark in CIS-software development. To top it all, the Alpha Chi National Honor Society medals were given to shining stars such as Riley Burnett and Justin A. Roberts.
