Abbeville – Georgia Satcher Scott, a beloved figure in the Abbeville community, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at her home at the age of 102. Mrs. Scott was the widow of William Henry “Bud” Scott and is remembered for her deep musical talent and strong family ties.

Born in Greenwood County, Mrs. Scott was the daughter of Rev. George T. Satcher and Marie Rushton Adams Satcher, both of whom have passed away. A long-time, dedicated member of the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church, she played the piano for church services until the age of 93. Her ability to play by ear, despite taking only one piano lesson, highlighted her exceptional musical talent. In addition to her musical contributions, Mrs. Scott loved spending time with her family and enjoyed the company of her playful kittens.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Scott Ouzts, and her son-in-law, Donnie. She also lost her two sisters, Sally Myrtle Davis and Willie Bryant; her brother, Joe Satcher; and her grandson, Kevin Ouzts. She is survived by her son, George Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Scott, and his wife, Saralee. Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren: Chris Ouzts and wife Nancy, Bill Scott and wife Kristin, and LeAnn Corcoran and husband Dan. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend and caretaker, Cynthia M. Thomas.

Family and friends will have the opportunity to honor Mrs. Scott’s life on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Harris Funeral Home. The graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on the same day at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, where services will be officiated by Rev. Ray Massey and Rev. Russ Tollison.

In memory of Mrs. Scott, the family encourages memorial contributions to be made to the Humane Society of Abbeville County or to a charity of one’s choice, instead of sending flowers. Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Abbeville is assisting the Scott family during this time of loss.
