Dorothy was born on May 7, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Thomas and Elizabeth Kohler Jones. She graduated from Ursuline High School in 1954, where she made a name for herself as a drum majorette. Dorothy’s career included working as a stewardess for Northwest Airlines. She met her husband, Vince Ficocelli, 73 years ago, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage together. Together, they made significant contributions to the community.
For over 25 years, Dorothy and Vince were active members of the Marriage Encounter Weekend Presenting Team, where they led hundreds of weekends focused on enhancing marriages. They also taught a matrimony class to Catholic high school students for over seven years and conducted marriage preparation courses and Pre-Cana for a total of 15 years. Dorothy’s work didn’t end there; she was a dedicated member of the Women’s Bereavement Committee at various parishes and served as a Eucharistic minister for residents at the Mother Angeline McCrory Nursing Home. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 to 11 a.m., with a rosary service starting at 10:30 a.m. Following this, the Liturgy of Christian Burial and a reception will take place. Dorothy will be interred in the columbarium at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11 a.m.
