Greenwood is grieving the loss of Marjorie Corbett Roberts, 92, a beloved resident who passed away on May 12, 2025. Known for her compassion and dedication, Marjorie was a longtime member of Westminster and Rock Presbyterian Churches. She is survived by her four children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on May 19, 2025, at Rock Presbyterian Church, illustrating the community’s support during this difficult time.

Greenwood, SC – The community of Greenwood is in mourning following the passing of Marjorie Corbett Roberts, a cherished figure and long-time resident, who died on May 12, 2025, at the age of 92. Roberts passed away in Clemson Downs, a facility where she had moved to be closer to her family.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Clayto Roberts, who had passed away shortly after their relocation to the Presbyterian Home in Clinton, SC, in 2017.

Born on June 10, 1932, in Mountville, SC, she was the daughter of William Henry Corbett and Mary Coates Corbett. Marjorie graduated from Mountville High School in 1950 and attended Anderson College for a year before marrying Clayto on October 20, 1951. The couple moved to Greenwood in 1956, where they raised their family and became committed members of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Rock Presbyterian Church.

For a decade, Marjorie devoted herself to caring for Clayto during his battle with dementia, exemplifying her compassion and dedication to family. Following Clayto’s death, she remained a resident at the Presbyterian Home until February 2025, when she made the transition to Clemson Downs.

Marjorie Roberts is survived by her four children: Debbie Hamlett of Greenwood; Nancy Parvin and her husband Clint of Chattanooga, TN; Mary Barron and her husband Charlie of Clemson, SC; and son Lamar Roberts and his wife Kym of Roswell, GA. She advised a legacy of love through her five grandchildren: Katie Barron Hubbard and her husband Jonathan from Asheville, NC; Ashley Hamlett Jenkins and her husband Rob from James Island, SC; Meg Barron Denham and husband Andrew of Cumming, GA; Caroline Roberts from Sarasota, FL; and Rebecca Roberts from Roswell, GA. Marjorie was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Amy Hamlett and Christopher Lacey, and is remembered fondly by her eight great-grandchildren: Sterling, Henry, and Shelby Jenkins; Charlie, Ellis, and Amelia Hubbard; and Barron and Pryor Jane Denham.

A memorial service to honor Marjorie Roberts will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Rock Presbyterian Church in Greenwood. The service will be officiated by Rev. Chris Leonard, and burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to visit with each other at the church following the service, providing an opportunity for communal remembrance and support.

In acknowledgment of the care received, the Roberts family has expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at both the Presbyterian Home and Clemson Downs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rock Presbyterian Church or Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina to honor Marjorie’s memory and commitment to her faith and community.

The Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family during this time of grief.
