Meet the Speaker: Dr. Rachel Schiera

This time around, the spotlight will be on Dr. Rachel Schiera, a brilliant assistant professor of education at Lander. She will delve into a fascinating topic titled “30,000+ Decisions a Day: The How, What, and Why of Decisions and Decision Education.” Sounds intriguing, right? With estimates suggesting that each individual makes tens of thousands of decisions every single day, understanding the decision-making process is more important than ever.

The lecture is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. at the Arts Center of Greenwood. But don’t rush in at the last minute! Why Decision Making Matters

Dr. Schiera has her finger on the pulse of modern education. Her recent research has focused on decision-making education as well as the intriguing role of generative AI in influencing everyday choices. With her extensive experience teaching in five different countries, ranging from pre-kindergarten to university students, she’s well-equipped to guide discussions about the complexities of decision making.

Making Education Work

Not only has Dr. Schiera worked with noted organizations like Oxford University Press and the Fulbright Program, but she also holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She’s currently the co-coordinator of the Call Me MiSTER chapter at Lander University, which aims to address the needs of male teachers of color.

With over a decade of experience contributing to curriculum development in Oman and having published important research on teacher transformation, her expertise is sure to offer plenty of valuable takeaways for those attending the lecture.
