Buddy had an extensive career in the paper industry, working for companies such as Pineville Kraft in Pineville, Louisiana, and Stone Container in Florence and Hodge, South Carolina. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he received the Stone Container Chairman’s Award for Excellence in 1997, shortly before he retired from Hodge. This prestigious award was presented at the company’s corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, underscoring his impact and dedication in his field.
Community Engagement and Interests
In retirement, Buddy became a cherished member of the Turtle Creek Coffee group, where he and other locals would gather daily at Wendy’s to discuss a range of topics over coffee, a ritual so well-known that staff would prepare their coffee in advance. Buddy was an enthusiastic sports fan, passionately supporting the Clemson Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.
Known for his practical skills, he frequently assisted family and friends with various projects, showcasing his handy nature. He had a deep appreciation for gardening, maintaining a beautiful yard until about a year before his passing.
