GREENWOOD, S.C. — Both Emerald High School volleyball teams will start their state playoff runs on their own court in Greenwood this week, with the boys up first on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and the girls a night later.
The Emerald boys carry the No. 7 seed in the Class 4A Upper State and welcome No. 10 Airport in the opening round. Survive that, and Emerald heads out on Oct. 22 to face second-seeded Indian Land.
On the girls side, Emerald is the No. 8 seed in the Class 3A Upper State and plays host to No. 9 Union County on Oct. 21. The winner earns a trip to top-seeded Powdersville on Oct. 26.
The boys bracket wraps up quickly. The Class 4A boys title match is scheduled for Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. at Lexington High School, which is hosting all the boys finals.
The girls road is longer. Upper State semifinals come Oct. 28, and the Class 3A girls championship is slated for 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Dreher High School in Columbia.
