GREENWOOD, S.C. — Uptown Greenwood turns into an outdoor science and arts classroom on Saturday, Oct. 17, when the iMAGINE Lakelands STEAM Festival sets up from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for a free street festival open to the public.
The event is staged with the Arts Center of Greenwood and stretches from the arts center along Oregon Avenue, Alliance Street and Maxwell Avenue to the Uptown Market. Schools, businesses and community groups will run exhibits built around science, technology, engineering, the arts and math, with hands-on activities for all ages.
Some stations move indoors at the Greenwood Museum, the Arts Center of Greenwood and the Uptown Market, and others sit near the splash pad.
Free parking is offered in the city lot at Maxwell Avenue and Monument Street and at Hampton Place Shopping Center, at Hampton Avenue and Main Street. Handicapped spaces are in front of the arts center. Pets are not allowed in the festival area, though service animals are welcome.
Clemson University is home to South Carolina’s Coalition for Mathematics and Science, the group that runs the iMAGINE program.
