HODGES, S.C. — A Saturday afternoon fire tore through a house on Terrapin Pointe Road, and the two people who lived there are now receiving aid from the Red Cross, Hodges-Cokesbury’s fire chief said.

Crews were sent to the Hodges address about 12:30 p.m. Arriving firefighters found flames had already consumed the garage and moved into the living portion of the building.

Nobody was killed, officials said, and they have not identified a cause. The house itself was a total loss.

Companies remained at the address for about two hours. Backup came from Hodges, Ware Shoals and stations covering the northern part of Greenwood County.

Hodges-Cokesbury Volunteer Fire Department appears on the Greenwood County Fire Services roster that covers unincorporated areas. Station 41 is at 225 Miller Road in Hodges, and Ware Shoals is listed there as Station 45. The county names 12 fire departments in that network.

Hodges sits about 12 miles northwest of Greenwood.
