GREENWOOD, S.C. — Arrest warrants are out for nine people on the sex-offender registry in Greenwood County after deputies finished a countywide round of address checks, the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff Dennis D. Kelly’s office reported that deputies verified the listed homes of 191 registry members who live in the county. Nine of those checks turned up people who were not meeting the rules, and warrants followed for each of them. Officials did not name the people sought.

The work wrapped up last week and centered on confirming that registered offenders are living where the registry says they live. Support Services and Uniform Patrol deputies handled the visits with help from state probation and parole staff.

Kelly, a Republican, has led the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office since he was sworn in 2021. The agency lists its Law Enforcement Center at 528 Edgefield Street, Greenwood, SC 29646, the same campus as the Greenwood County Detention Center.

Deputies framed the sweep as part of routine accountability work meant to keep the registry current and protect people who live in the county. Anyone with information about the wanted offenders was asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
