# Greenwood Area Public Meetings Set for August 26-29

Several public bodies in Greenwood and Ninety Six have scheduled meetings this week, including the Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation Board of Directors and the Greenwood County Board of Voter Registration and Elections. These meetings, taking place from Monday, August 26, through Thursday, August 29, will address various community and administrative matters.

The Ninety Six Town Council is scheduled to meet on Monday, August 26, at 6 p.m. At the Ninety Six Visitors Center. Their agenda includes a budget workshop for the fiscal year spanning October 2026 to September 2027 as part of their unfinished business.

On Tuesday, August 27, the Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation Board of Directors will convene at 8:30 a.m. At, located at 104 Main Street. The board plans to approve minutes from their July 21 meeting and discuss old business, including an update from the Merchants Association by Taylor Tucker, board orientation dates, Arcade renovations, and a Festival of Discovery update. New business items include a discussion on 4TheLoveOf and an Around the Table discussion.

Also on Tuesday, August 27, the Ninety Six Commission of Public Works will hold a meeting at 3 p.m. At their office at 102 E Main Street in Ninety Six. The commission will review and approve minutes from their July 28 regular meeting, July 28 budget workshop, and August 6 called meeting. They will also approve the July 2026 financial statements. Reports will cover projects such as the Mill Cabin Road Project, RIA South Cambridge Waterline Project, Bar Screen Project, and Eddy Road Pump Station, alongside wastewater treatment, systems manager, and office manager reports. New business includes a first reading by title of the FY 2026/2027 Budget and a discussion regarding a Pinehaven Drive Sewer Line letter.

The Greenwood County Board of Voter Registration and Elections will meet on Thursday, August 29, at 10 a.m. At the Voter Registration & Elections Office, 225 Park Avenue in Greenwood. The agenda includes the reading and approval of previous meeting minutes, the secretary administering an oath to the chairperson, and the chairperson administering an oath to the board. A challenged ballot hearing is scheduled, followed by a recess to scan approved provisional ballots and reconvening for the certification of the Special Republican Primary Runoff. The board will order a recount if necessary and discuss preparations for the General Election, covering polling locations, combined polling locations, extended office hours, and board duties. An executive session will immediately follow the business meeting to discuss employment, appointment, compensation, promotion, demotion, discipline, or release of an employee, student, or regulated person, or the appointment of a person to a public body. Action may be taken on items discussed in executive session. The board will also discuss extended office hours for filing for the unexpired seat in the Town of Ware Shoals. The next meeting date is to be announced.
