The United States recorded its highest annual total of confirmed measles infections in 35 years during 2026, with 2,318 cases reported across the country. Data indicates that 69 percent of these cases occurred in individuals aged 19 or younger, and one-fifth involved children under five. A significant majority, 93 percent, of those infected were unvaccinated.

This rise in cases comes as kindergarten vaccination coverage for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) was reported at 92.5 percent nationally. The suit concerned the company’s 2022 powdered infant-formula recall from its Sturgis, Michigan, plant.
